How the Locksmith Uses the Keyless Go Repeater FBS4 to Start the Car

  • Step 1: Access the Owner’s Key Fob
    • The locksmith must have access to the vehicle owner’s key fob or at least the signal from the key fob. If the key fob is still in the owner’s possession but the signal is too weak to reach the car, the locksmith can use the repeater to amplify the signal.
  • Step 2: Amplifying the Signal
    • The locksmith places the key fob within the range of the Keyless Go Repeater. The repeater amplifies the signal from the fob and transmits it to the vehicle, simulating the presence of the key near the car. The repeater essentially acts as a relay to pass the signal to the vehicle.
  • Step 3: Unlocking the Car
    • In most keyless entry systems, the first action is unlocking the car. Once the amplified signal is received by the car, it will unlock the doors (if applicable). The car may also recognize the signal and allow the engine to start, depending on the system.
  • Step 4: Starting the Engine
    • In many vehicles, once the car detects a valid key fob signal (even if it’s amplified via a repeater), the engine can be started. This might happen in two ways:
      • Push-button start: The owner can push the start button while the repeater relays the signal from the fob.
      • Traditional ignition: For vehicles with a keyless ignition system but still using a traditional ignition (without a button), the repeater can act to amplify the signal to engage the immobilizer and allow the car to start.

Below are the legal and legitimate ways a car locksmith could use the Keyless Go Repeater FBS4:

1. Unlocking Vehicles (with Owner’s Consent)

  • Authorized Unlocking Services: If a car owner is locked out of their vehicle and the vehicle uses a keyless entry system (e.g., “Keyless Go”), a locksmith may use a Keyless Go Repeater FBS4 to amplify the signal from the owner’s key fob to unlock the car. When operating in Toyota/Lexus/Subaru mode one, there is DETECTION AND DISPLAY of the key. In other words, the operator of the large unit sees the presence of the key in the working area of the device.

Working principle The device consists of two relay modules – receiving and transmitting. The receiving module should be located at the car, the transmitting module at the key. The receiving module of the small unit must be located 10-30 centimeters from the door handle (the antenna is installed in it).
